Booking Through Thursday: The Best Book You’ve Never Read

We’ve all seen the lists, we’ve all thought, “I should really read that someday,” but for all of us, there are still books on “The List” that we haven’t actually gotten around to reading. Even though we know they’re fabulous. Even though we know that we’ll like them. Or that we’ll learn from them. Or just that they’re supposed to be worthy. We just … haven’t gotten around to them yet.

What’s the best book that YOU haven’t read yet?

The one that springs immediately to mind is The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I’ve been longing to read it since I first heard of it. Then there’s War and Peace, which I’ve seen mentioned in a few other posts and in which I was never particularly interested until I discovered it included Napoleon. And A Room With a View by E. M. Forster. Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. The Time Traveller’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. A Fraction of the Whole by Steve Toltz. In the non-fiction department, England’s Mistress by Kate Williams (a biography of Emma Hamilton I’ve been trying to get hold of for ages). I could probably keep going, but I might never stop!

  2. I have to get hold of it first! There's several dozen copies in the library system and they seem to be always all checked out.

  8. A Room with A View is great! Read that and then rent the movie with Helena Bonham Carter. Both are just fantastic.

  9. Lonesome Dove -- One my favorites!! I also liked Book Thief and Time Traveller's Wife. I'm not a Forster fan. And I haven't read the others.

Lonesome Dove should move to the top of the list.
