Teaser Tuesdays

Teaser Tuesdays TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:

  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
  • You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from - that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!

So they visit their richer cousins, and get into debt when they can, and live but shabbily when they can’t, and find - the women no husbands, and the men no wives - and ride in borrowed carriages, and sit at feasts that are never of their own making, and so go through high life. The rich family sum has been divided by so many figures, and they are the something over that nobody knows what to do with.

From Bleak House by Charles Dickens, p. 358.

  1. What a neat idea!

The understanding and love of God comes to use through the look of the staretz, whose knowledge guides us and whose experience reassures us. The pilgrim goes in search of a guide and finds him in one of the monasteries that flourished in Russia at the end of the nineteenth century.I won't mention the title, since I haven't finished the book yet, and I haven't decided whether or not to mention it on my blog.
